Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu (永祥兴豆腐) is a tofu stall in People's Park Food Centre in Chinatown. The stall serves only yong tau foo (or "tofu stew" as others called it) and is included in Singapore Michelin Guide 2024.
Yong Xiang Xing is hard to miss. There is always a long queue that leads to the stall. Waiting time can be as long as 15 minutes when they are preparing the next batch of tofu — boiled or deep-fried. Once ready, serving is quite fast.
There is no menu. Ordering from Yong Xiang Xing is simple, just tell them how many bowls you want. They serve a fixed portion of yong tau foo in soup only.
Each bowl of yong tau foo contains 10 pieces of their freshly-made handmade fish balls, silken tofu and fried tofu with minced fish paste, fried tofu skin roll, etc. Their special sweet-spicy chilli is a great match for the yong tau foo. The clear soup, boiled with the yong tau foo and seasoned with spring onions, is savoury and flavourful. This delightful dish is great as a meal without carbohydrates.
It is always worth it to queue for nice food even on weekdays, especially for Yong Xiang Xing. Just need some patience.
