Xie Kee Hokkien Mee (谢记福建面) in Bukit Timah Food Centre sells traditional-taste Hokkien mee. Each serving of the Hokkien mee is served slightly wet, which allows the noodles to be cooked in batches instead of per plate upon ordering.
Xie Kee's Hokkien mee uses thick white vermicelli and flat yellow noodle, instead of the round noodle as used by most other Hokkien mee sellers. Other ingredients include pieces of squid, prawns and eggs — no pork strips nor fried lard. With sambal chilli and some drops of lime juice, the noodle dish is delightful and good-tasting.
Expect to queue at Xie Kee, especially during lunch time.
