Whampoa Soya Bean (黄埔豆花) is a well-known name in Singapore and it has opened a new stall in Bukit Timah Interim Hawker Centre. Whampoa Soya Bean serves mainly soya pudding, soya bean milk and glass jelly and is also Michelin Guide recommended.
The cold soya bean milk, with glass jelly, is not overly sweet and the small bits of glass jelly offer some chewing pleasure. It is a healthier alternative to caffeinated beverages.
The finely-ground soya beancurd (or soya pudding) is silky-smooth and ultra-soft. The traditional dessert is usually served warm and not too sweet.
Other than having plain soya pudding, toppings of glass jelly, yam balls, ginkgo, red beans, etc, can be added for additional flavours and textures. The colourful yam balls are soft and chewy with light natural flavours and mild-sweet. It adds texture to the pudding for different experience.
Whampoa Soya Bean's glass jelly is their signature too. I will try that next time.
