Singapore Eat: Thye Hong Fishball Noodle (太丰鱼圆面) @ Bukit Batok

Writer's picture: RickRick

Thye Hong Fishball Noodle (太丰鱼圆面) is located in Kimly Coffeeshop in Bukit Batok East. The noodle stall serves fishball noodle with handmade fishballs and fish cakes. Other than fishball noodle, there are fishball soup and fried fish cake as side dishes.

The Fishball Noodle (鱼圆面) is available as dry-style or in soup with a selection from three types of noodle: mee pok (面薄), mee kia (幼面) or kway teow mee (粿条面). For dry-style, the noodle is accompanied by a flavourful sauce with aroma of fried shallot, mushroom, fried pork lard, etc, and topped with chopped spring onions. The sauce makes the noodle dish very delicious.

The ingredients in the bowl of savoury soup, that accompanies a dry-style noodle dish, are big-size fishballs, slices of fish cake and slices of lean pork. The handmade fishballs and fish cakes are mild savoury and very soft — they are so nice that I will want to try their fried fish cakes next time.

Thye Hong Fishball Noodle is managed by an elderly couple, so be patient when queuing and waiting for the food. Do expect a queue during peak hours.
