Singapore Eat: Pontian Wanton Noodles (笨珍云吞面) @ Bukit Batok

Writer's picture: RickRick

Pontian Wanton Noodles (笨珍云吞面) is located in Mei De Coffeeshop (美德咖啡店), which occupies the ground level of both Block 273 & 279 in Bukit Batok East. The stall serves its signature Pontian wanton noodle of over 60 years in dry-style or with soup. Set-meal options with side dishes are also available.

The stall's wanton noodle (云吞面) is unlike the Pontian-style tomato-based wanton noodle that I'm accustomed to. The thin egg noodle is thicker and chewier than Singapore-style wanton noodle and dry-tossed in just-enough dark sauce and fragrant oil. The noodle is added with slices of char siew, two fried meat dumplings, greens, fried pork lard, and two meat dumplings separately in a bowl of soup. The char siew is succulent, meat dumplings have nice flavours and the overall dish has a well-balanced taste. Nice!

Aside from wanton noodle, Pontian Wanton Noodles also serves other noodle dishes, such as cheesy chicken cutlet noodle and prawn dumplings noodle.
