Nyonya Chendol is the first dessert stall in Singapore that is recommended by Michelin Guide. As its name implies, it serves mainly Nyonya chendol, or cendol. Its main outlet is in Old Airport Road Food Centre with several other branches around Singapore.
Nyonya Chendol's stall in Bukit Timah Interim Hawker Centre is the only outlet on the west side of Singapore. The stall has just 4 flavours for their chendol: original (no red bean), red bean, sweet corn and durian.
The Red Bean Chendol has large amount of green rice flour, big red beans, palm sugar and coconut milk on crushed ice. The amount of each ingredient is well-controlled to ensure that the dessert has well-balanced flavours and just-right sweetness. It is very nice indeed.
The Durian Chendol uses a scoop of chilled durian flesh — unlike some chendols that I have tried before that use iced durian or durian-flavoured ice-cream. Similarly, this chendol is nice with wonderful real durian flavour without increase in sweetness level.
When having a meal in Bukit Timah Interim Hawker Centre or somewhere around Beauty World, go for a bowl of nice chendol at Nyonya Chendol instead of a cold drink.
