Singapore Eat: Ji Xiang Braised Duck Rice & Kway Chap (吉祥可口鸭饭.面.粿汁) @ Bukit Batok

Ji Xiang Braised Duck Rice, Noodle & Kway Chap (吉祥可口鸭饭.面.粿汁) is located in Broadway Coffee Shop, right beside 777 Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, in Bukit Batok West Shopping Centre. The stall serves its braised ducks with rice, porridge, noodle or in a braised set with other ingredients (dried tofu, tofu puff, braised egg and offals). There is kway chap (without duck meat) too.

Ji Xiang's Braised Duck Noodle (鸭面) has deboned duck meat on yellow noodle with braised sauce and garnished with fried shallot and spring onions. A bowl of herbal soup accompanies the dish. The thick braised sauce is made using some herbs and is mild sweet-savoury despite its appearance. The duck noodle is delicious with tender braised duck meat. Do go easy with the chilli, which may be on the spicier side.

Ji Xiang’s kway chap (粿汁) is served with pig intestine, braised egg, dried tofu and tofu puff in the same dark braised sauce and the kway chap (broad rice noodle) is in a bowl of light herbal soup with spring onions. Extra ingredients can be added at additional charges — I added a serving of their tender duck meat. The pig intestine is well-braised and not chewy. This is another delicious dish to go for.

Ji Xiang's well-braised duck meat is really not to be missed.
