Started in Blanco Court at Beach Road, the well-known Blanco Court Fresh Fish Soup (白兰阁鲜鱼汤) has been serving its fresh fish soup since 1978. Its outlet in Beauty World Food Centre opened in August 2020.
Blanco Court Fresh Fish Soup serves primarily two versions of fish soup: sliced fish soup / bee hoon (白鱼片汤/米粉汤) and fried fish soup / bee hoon (炸鱼片汤/米粉汤). For the fried version, there is option for fish head (炸鱼头汤/米粉汤) instead of fish meat. Seafood soup and tom yum soup are also available.
The Sliced Fish Bee Hoon (白鱼片米粉汤) is served with thick rice vermiceilli in clear soup with large amount of sliced fish meat, greens and some fried salted fish. The chunky fish meat is very fresh and the flavourful soup is enhanced by the salted fish.
The Fried Fish Bee Hoon (炸鱼片米粉汤) is served with thick rice vermiceilli in soup, added with milk (by default), and with large amount of fried sliced fish meat, greens, fried egg floss, and fried salted fish. The sweet-savoury milky soup has more flavours and makes the noodle dish tastier. Do specify "no milk" on ordering to go for clear soup.
Be it plain or fried, Blanco Court's fish soup with/without rice vermicelli are great dishes to go for, especially after a hike in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
