Ben Xiao Hai Mala Hotpot (笨小孩麻辣香锅) stall is located right beside Mian Wang 1971 (面王一九七一) Hokkien Mee stall in a coffee shop below Block 537 in Bukit Batok. As the name implies, Ben Xiao Hai serves mainly mala hotpot and also several Chinese, Korean and Japanese cooked dishes.

The mala hotpot I ordered from the stall has about 10 ingredients, including some chicken and pork meat, at lowest spiciness level (微辣) and cost only $6.50. The mala sauce used is flavourful with peppercorn flavour and not very salty — even though I ate the dish without rice nor noodle. The taste is so good and delicious. I will try the next level of spiciness (小辣) another time — when it comes to mala hotpot, I go for well-balanced flavours rather than sheer spiciness, but I do like the numbing taste of peppercorn a lot.

Ben Xiao Hai's Chinese, Korean and Japanese cooked dishes seem interesting too. I will be back for more.
