Singapore Eat: 777 Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee (777炒福建虾面) @ Bukit Batok

777 Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee (777炒福建虾面) is one of the many food stalls in a neighbourhood food centre in Bukit Batok West Shopping Mall. As its name implies, the stall serves mainly fried Hokkien prawn mee.

On the menu, or signboard, there are two kinds of Hokkien Prawn Mee, one with roasted pork and the other without. The stall added fried kway teow to their menu early this year.

777 Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee (777炒福建虾面): Menu

The (small) fried Hokkien prawn mee is served with thick rice vermicelli and yellow noodle stir-fried with egg in savoury gravy and is topped with prawns, slices of faux abalone (made with squids) and shreds of pork belly meat. The wet-style noodle dish is accompanied by a lime and spicy chilli for additional citrusy-spicy flavours. It is a nice-tasting dish that I have eaten countless times.

The fried kway teow with thick flat noodle and yellow noodle is stir-fried with eggs, slices of fishcake, beansprouts and cockles. The sweet-savoury fried noodle is tasty and cockles are nicely-cooked, not too raw or overcooked. It has a familiar taste though — I seemed to have tasted a similar dish before but unable to put my finger on it.

The Hokkien mee and fried kway teow are delicious which is why I dined very often at 777 Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee stall.
