Situated near the main entrance of Bukit Gombak Park is a relatively-new cafe named "Whisk & Paddle" that started business around the same time the park was opened to the public a couple of years ago. This is the second outlet of Whisk & Paddle, with the first located in Punggol.
Whisk & Paddle has a long list of food & beverage items as shown on the single-page menu outside its door. But, don't worry about the menu's readability, ordering of items is via personal mobile devices after scanning a QR code at the selected table. There is no service charge. The staff will handle the food and beverages, ordering of food is self-service and payment is made at the counter.
The cafe is rather big and spacious with cosy ambience and soft music playing in the background. It is a quiet cafe on weekdays but hardly any empty tables on weekends, especially during peak hours.
Whisk & Paddle's hot beverages, be it coffee latte, milk or black sesame latte, are accompanied by two iced gem biscuits per cup. Diners can also choose to replace milk with oat milk at an extra charge.
For light bites, nachos is a great option, be it as a side dish or simply just for snacking. The crispy nachos are served with cheese and tomato salsa sauce for dipping.
I like the lamb shank with whipped potato, vegetables and mushroom in light sauce. The dish is not salty and can be savour as it is without carbo-staples. The meat is ultra-tender and easily separated from the bone.
The Italian carbonara is one tasty pasta dish with an egg benedict and bacon in a velvety cream sauce. The dish is creamy and gets creamier after mixing with the egg yolk. Nice and delicious!
Apart from brunch meals and pastas, there are pizzas, Movenpick ice-creams and desserts, especially macarons with different flavours.
