Sabah Eat: Kim Hing Lee Coffee Shop (金兴利茶室) Pork Noodle @ Kota Kinabalu

Kedai Kopi Kim Hing Lee (金兴利茶室) is said to be the first coffee shop in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, to sell pork noodle (生肉面) that is popular among locals.

Kim Hing Lee Coffee Shop (金兴利茶室)

Kim Hing Lee has been in business for over 40 years — since 1982. It first started in a location along Lorong Sinsuran 3, not far from Kota Kinabalu Handicraft Market, and has expanded to several outlets in Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur. There is another outlet along Gaya Street.

The signature dish is the traditional-style fresh pork slices in clear soup with dry-style dark-sauce noodle. Other variants include mixes of pig innards with meat. The noodle is well mixed with dark sauce to give a mild flavour and matches well with the soup.

The fresh lean meat is smooth and tender and goes very well with their homemade sour-spicy chilli, which is not very spicy and highly-recommended to enhance the taste of the meat.

By the way, the iced lime & plum juice here is a great option other than hot beverages, especially on hot days.
