Singapore Eats: Michelin Food Hunt @ People's Park Food Centre (珍珠坊美食阁)

Following the Singapore Michelin Guide, since 2016 to 2024, we tried the cheaper hawker stalls in their list of recommendations in Chinatown Complex, Hong Lim Market & Food Centre and Tiong Bahru Market & Food Centre. We enjoy trying the delicacies and rediscovering nice local food of Singapore.

In this post, we continued our Michelin Guide food hunt in People's Park Complex Food Centre (珍珠坊美食阁).

1. People's Park Roasted Delights (珍珠坊香港烧腊)

Roasted delights are favourite local delicacies in Singapore with barbecue pork, roasted pork, roasted duck, roasted chicken, steamed Hainanese chicken, soya sauce chicken, etc, to dine with rice or noodle. There are a number of roasted delights stalls in Chinatown but People's Park Roasted Delights stall stands out among them. The stall serves stewed soup as well.

Their roasted duck and barbecue pork noodle is my favourite. Apart from tender meats and crispy duck skin, the noodle is crunchy and great too. My first mouthful of the noodle and I go "wow"! If you are in a group, go for a platter of different meats to try most of the delights.

Opening Hours:

9am to 9pm | Closed on Thursday

2. Hong Peng La Mian Xiao Long Bao (洪鹏拉面小笼包)

Hong Peng serves a variety of dishes ranging from different types of Chinese meat dumplings — steamed and fried — to hand-pulled noodles, porridge with different ingredients, etc.

Hong Peng La Mian Xiao Long Bao (洪鹏拉面小笼包)

Since Michelin Guide recommended xiao long bao (steamed meat dumpling with soup) and their hand-pulled noodle, we ordered a basket of xiao long bao and their flavoured beef noodle to try. The meat dumplings (xiao long bao) is fresh, soupy and with nice flavours.

The beef shank noodle has nicely-done and flavoured beef slices. The hand-pulled noodle is not too thick and very smooth. However, the noodle may be a lot such that two persons can share a bowl.

Opening Hours:

10am to 10pm | Daily

3. Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu (永祥兴豆腐)

Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu serves tofu stew and the stall is hard to miss. There is always a long queue that leads you right to the stall. Waiting time can be as long as 15 minutes when they are preparing the next batch of ingredients. But once that is done, serving is quite fast.

Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu (永祥兴豆腐)

Ordering from Yong Xiang Xing is simple, just tell them how many bowls you want. They serves yong tau foo in soup only, no rice or noodle and neither is there any variants in portion. Each bowl contains 10 pieces of their handmade fish balls, tofu with fish paste, fried tofu skin roll, etc. The dish is great as a meal without carbohydrates.
