Siam Road Char Koay Teow (stall) used to be a push-cart stall stationed outside a coffee shop at one end of Jalan Siam — I first tried it there in 2017. The stall has since moved to a new shop about 100 metres down the same road.
Today, dishes of char kway teow are still cooked on a push-cart outside the shop with specially-made ventilation to divert away the charcoal smoke. The aroma of burning charcoal still filled the air around the stall.

Siam Road Char Koay Teow is famous for its wok-fried char kway teow that is skilfully fried over charcoal fire. The stall is accoladed with Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2023.

While waiting for the char kway teow to be ready, have a red nutmeg juice. The Penang-popular drink has a refreshing and delightfully unique flavour. (Note: drinks and food to be paid separately.)
The char kway teow is stir-fried with prawns, cockles, Chinese sausage, bean sprouts and sping onions — add an egg for enahanced flavour. The non-oily flat noodle dish emits a charcoal aroma. A little spiciness spiced it up and makes it a delicious dish to go for.

Siam Road Char Koay Teow draws long queues especially on weekends and public holidays. Waiting time can also be very long. Plan to go on a weekday around 12pm — that's what I did.
