New Town Authentic Cuisine is a kopitiam-style restaurant located on the ground floor below Elite Mansion Boutique Hotel in Taman Sri Tanjung, near the western edge of Pekan Muar. Opened in 2024, the kopitiam serves Malaysian local delights.
The kopitiam has quite a wide range of dishes, including variants of wanton noodle, fried rice, nasi lemak, mee siam, porridges, lontong, traditional toasts and more. Apart from traditional beverages, they have a "coconut series" where coconut milk is added to various beverages to create new flavours.
The Wantan Mee with Ayam Goreng Berempah (香料炸鸡云吞面) has thin egg noodle topped with fried spiced chicken, crispy beancurd skins, greens, and couple of meat dumplings (wanton) in a small bowl of soup. The noodle, dry-tossed with a light sauce and fragrant oil, has a nice aroma and texture. The fried chicken is tender with nice flavours of the spices used. It is a flavourful and tasty dish.
The Roti Canai Tampal with Chicken Curry (咖哩鸡配印度煎饼加蛋) is a special style where egg is fried with each piece of roti canai (a.k.a. roti prata) as though it is pasted (tampal) on the flatbread. The egg yolk may be fully cooked or still runny. The chicken curry has tender chicken meat and its thick gravy adds mild-spicy flavours to the crispy flatbread — eat the red chilli for some spicy kick. This light dish is great for breakfast or brunch.
The signature Coconut NewTown Kopi Latte (椰子咖啡拿铁) has traditional kopi and coconut milk in a glass with frothed milk. There are some jelly-like stuff in the latte that adds soft texture to it. This nice iced latte is definitely a must-try!
New Town Authentic Cuisine is new and has a nice and cooling environment to have meals. It is a convenient dining place for guests of Elite Hotel too.
