Ann Chin (安珍) stall is located in the labyrinth of Chinatown Complex, on the second level, among over a hundred food stalls. It is well-known for its handmade popiah (手工薄饼), or spring rolls.
Each popiah is $1.70 and is made on orders with generous amount of ingredients.
The spring roll is sufficiently dripped-dry and the wheat-flour wrapper is not soggy at all after a few minutes. Looks good!
The popiah is crunchy. Apart from the usual turnip strips and beansprouts, there are lettuce, eggs, ground peanuts and crispy bits of fried flour. Most of the ingredients contribute to the crunchiness of the spring roll. The sweetness of the turnips is just nice, not too sweet. And one thing notable (or rather, I did not notice) is the absence of thick wrapper layers that usually made spring rolls too chewy.
Ann Chin's popiah is great for a light meal or as snack after meals.
