LōuKót Cafe is very hard to miss. It is located right beside Kampong Kling Mosque, a famous landmark in Melaka Old Town. A signboard outside the cafe highlights its signatures as biryani and chai teh.
LōuKót is a small cafe with simple rustic decorations and is pretty cosy. They have a well-tamed parrot, named Lucky, that roams around the cafe freely.
The cafe's main dish is nasi briyani (spiced rice) with either chicken, lamb or veggy of the day. Other than rice, there are options for bread (chapati / garlic bread) with just sauce or sauce and meat. A vegetarian option, named "Pulao", is available too.
The LōuKót Chicken is served with long basmati rice in spices, potatoes, dhal, raita, mint sauce and chicken in its own gravy. The chicken biryani with its sauces and yogurt-based raita (cabbage-carrot slaw) have very well-balanced flavours and neither too savoury nor spicy. It is very good. A mango lassi is also a great drink to accompany the dish, especially on hot days.
LōuKót Cafe focuses on just few dishes and prepares them to perfection — it is all about flavours and aroma.
