CSDR@Jonker (昌盛茶餐室) is a relatively new setup in Melaka Old Town towards the end of Jonker Walk, right beside The Blanc Hotel. Cheong Seng has been around since 2005 and the new outlet at Jonker Walk was opened in July 2022. The restaurant serves kopitiam-style breakfast and brunch and is a new option for early morning breakfast in the old town.
CSDR@Jonker is decorated with some antiques and old-age stuffs both inside and outside the restaurant, giving it a simple retro feel.
Although Hainanese-style breads and toasts are CSDR's signature breakfast options, they do serve other traditional local delights such as chee cheong fun (猪肠粉), nasi lemak and several noodle dishes, including laksa and kway teow soup.
The traditional Hainam breakfast with butter kaya toasts, two soft-boiled eggs and coffee is recommended for a light breakfast — leaving the stomach with enough space for just one more small order.
The toasts is nicely-grilled and has a crispy texture with rich butter and kaya.
The garlic toast is a hot-seller of the restaurant and highly recommended to try too. It is grilled till crispy outside and yet retained most of the bread's softness on the inside and with a tantalising garlic-butter aroma. No wonder it is so popular.
There are still a lot of local delights to try at CSDR@Jonker.
