For coffee-lovers who love Nanyang traditional coffee, Kluang Coffee Powder Factory (居銮咖啡) is a must-visit when in Kluang, Johor. Apart from being a factory where coffee beans are processed into coffee powder, it also housed a retail section, to sell its own products, and a cafe for visitors to relax and try its coffee.
Kluang Coffee Powder Factory's product is packaged under the brand "Cap Televisyen", which means "Television Brand", since 1966.

A monument at the entrance proclaims Kluang Coffee as "the best coffee in town". It's a hot spot for visitors to take photos.

In the retail section, a wide range of coffee products are laid out neatly on shelves. Various types of coffee ranging from instant coffees, traditional kopi powder to roasted coffee beans are available.

In one corner, several species of coffee beans are displayed in large glass bottles with some notes on them. Arabica, Robusta and Liberica beans are placed side-by-side for easy comparisons, especially their sizes. Traditional coffees are usually pre-mixed with salt, sugar or margarine and are known as "black coffee". "Pure coffee" are roasted beans that are not mixed with anything — also known as "white coffee".

Kluang Coffee Factory is one of the few spots in Johor that sells the locally-grown large-seed Liberica beans, which has a rich and nutty (or "woody") taste. Traditional coffee made from pure or blends of Liberica beans often exhibit a unique aroma. The more common Arabica and Robusta beans are also available here.

Used to be called "Brew 1966", The Kopi Factory cafe, just besides the retail section, offers visitors the convenience of tasting the factory-produced coffee with some light bites. The cafe can be crowded on weekends.

It is a great opportunity to try the traditional coffee here with some free-serving cream crackers — it's the way to have coffee in the olden days. Experience it!

Apart from traditional kopi, western-style coffees, such as cappuccino, lattes, etc, are also available using Arabica beans.

When in Kluang, visit Kluang Coffee Powder Factory and bring some coffee beans or powder home, especially the Liberica beans, which accounts for less than 2% of the world's commercially-grown coffee — isn’t it wonderful to have one of the rarest coffee beans sitting at our doorsteps?
