KL Eat: Soong Kee Beef Noodles (颂记牛肉粉) @ Chinatown

Soong Kee Beef Noodle (颂记牛肉粉) is a famous name among Malaysia locals. The restaurant has several branches in Kuala Lumpur with the main outlet located along Jalan Tun HS Lee, a short walk from Jalan Petaling. It also has a branch in Singapore Orchard Central that opened for business in 2023.

The main outlet of Soong Kee is actually known as "Soong Kee Beef Noodle & Lao You Ji Porridge (老友记粥)" selling various porridge dishes on top of beef noodles for over 70 years. There are steamed chicken and vegetable dishes too.

The Beef Slices Noodle Soup (牛肉汤面) comes with a generous amount of beef slices in tasty broth with thin egg noodle. The noodle soup dish is added with minced pork that makes it dark. The perfectly-cooked beef slices are very smooth and ultra-tender. This is undoubtedly the best beef noodle in Malaysia.

The dry Beef Slices Noodle (牛肉面) with additional beef balls is served with the same tender beef slices and beef balls in a bowl of clear soup. The dry noodle is in a separate bowl with minced pork. Except for the beef balls, the ingredients are the same as the soup-version but taste experiences are slightly different due to the separate placement of the minced meat. The big, spongy and juicy beef balls are delicious and is a must-try too.

The steamed chicken (滑鸡) is a chilled dish drenched with a light sauce (oil, light soy sauce, etc). The meat is very smooth and tender. No wonder it is so popular among diners.

Soong Kee's beef noodle is unforgettable after eating it once — I can satisfy my craving by visiting the Singapore branch some days.
