At one end of Jalan Dhoby, near to Tan Hiok Nee Heritage Walk, three new shops had sprung up in November 2024. The three shops have distinct colour themes of red, green and yellow. The shop with green theme is Tian Xin Lou (添心楼粤式点心茶楼), a dim sum restaurant.
Tian Xin Lou started its first outlet in Taman Maju Jaya, next to Taman Pelangi, in August 2024 and this outlet near Jalan Tan Hiok Nee is the second one. The restaurant occupies two storeys, including the level above Bei's Pastry (鲍小贝).
The restaurant serves a wide range of dishes, including dim sums, special noodle dishes, traditional pastries, etc. It will take several visits to try the different categories.
The Fried Carrot Cake (香炒萝卜糕) has a nice flavour, including the use of fried lard oil, and is mild-spicy. It is not a big dish and good to go for with other dim sums.
For dim sums, we tried:
Braised Chicken Feet (香卤凤爪) is a must for us and it is well-braised,
Yong taufu Eggplant (酿茄宝) is steamed with a nice sauce rather than fried,
Crystal Shrimp Dumplings (水晶虾饺),
Char Siu Rice Noodle Rolls (叉烧猪肠粉),
Honeycomb Taro Balls (蜂窝芋角) and
Mix Xiao Long Bao (海陆双拼小笼包), with prawn and pork filling, are fresh and good.
Tian Xin Lou's dim sums are really nice. I will go for their noodle dishes next time.
