SK (SK1908) Nanyang Cafe (兴记茶室) is a new setup along Tan Hiok Nee Heritage Walk, located right beside Roast & Coffee @ Tan Hiok Nee. The Nanyang kopitiam serves its signature Hainanese chicken rice and a wide range of Singapore and Malaysia delights.

The new cafe serves baked toasts, sandwiches, mee siam, nasi lemak, vegetarian dishes, claypot porridge, Western-style big breakfasts and spaghetti, croissant flower egg tart, etc. Other than Hainanese chicken rice, the cafe also serves Singapore-style fried prawn noodle — although the dish is called "Hokkien mee" in Singapore, there are KL-style and Penang-style Hokkien mee in Malaysia, so the Singapore dish is usually given other names.

The signature SK1908 Hainanese Chicken Rice Set (招牌海南鸡饭套餐) is served using kampung (free-range) chicken with chicken-stock-flavoured rice, a bowl of soup and side dishes of pak choy, a cherry tomato and egg beancurd. The citrusy-spicy chilli and fresh ginger mixture are must-have for the dish. There is quite a lot of succulent chicken meat and tastes very nice with the ginger-chilli. This is definitely a must-try.

The Curry Chicken White Bihun (咖哩鸡白米粉) is a delightful dish with nicely fried rice vermicelli served with a bowl of curry chicken. The vermicelli is stir-fried with a number of ingredients, including shredded omelette, and topped with spicy sambal chilli and a lime for refreshing flavour. The curry chicken, with tender chicken meat and potato, has spicy smooth gravy that goes well with the vermicelli.

SK Nanyang Cafe offers numerous dishes in a nice environment and the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive — it is a nice cafe to hang out.
