JB Eat: Niu Mo Wang Beef Noodles (牛魔王牛肉面) @ Taman Sentosa

Niu Mo Wang Beef Noodles (牛魔王牛肉面), located diagonally opposite Plaza Sentosa in Taman Sentosa, is a restaurant selling delicious Chinese-style beef noodles. It started a new outlet in Taman Johor Jaya at the end of 2023 that serves both beef and mutton noodles.

Niu Mo Wang's beef noodle is a traditional specialty of Guizhou, China, using high-quality beef. Their beefy broth is prepared by boiling cattle bones that contain rich bone marrow. The small restaurant has a rustic-oriental vibe with Chinese-style wooden furniture. Write-ups on their beef noodle are pasted on the walls.

There are quick options for beef noodles on the menu where diners can choose to have just braised beef, beef brisket, fresh beef cuts, tripes, tendons or mixture of them. The noodles can be either soup-based or dry-style. Other than the original broth (原汤), there is also the pickled-pepper (泡椒) versions for some spicy kicks.

Diners can customise their desired beef noodles. Apart from choosing the main ingredients, the desired types of noodle, all the beefy ingredients, fried eggs, soy eggs, tofu, beef balls and pork balls can also be added-on separately. Other than beef noodles, they serve dry minced pork noodle (干拌猪肉杂酱面) too.

Niu Mo Wang has introduced a new garlic-flavoured and spicy pickled pepper beef noodle (招牌泡椒蒜香带辣) as another of their signature dish.

The Original Braised Meat + Tripe + Tendon Noodle (原汤牛肉+牛肚+牛筋粉) with handmade noodle has the specified ingredients and garnished with corianders and spring onions. The broth is full of original beefy flavours with tender braised beef, super-soft tendons and soft tripes. It is hard not to finish the aromatic and flavourful soup. This is delicious.

The beef brisket noodle soup (原汤牛腩面) is also a great option without the tendons and tripes. And the dipping sauce is self-service, get it at a table near the entrance. The tasty chilli sauce is not too spicy and adds more flavours to the meat or the soup. Niu Mo Wang's crunchy pickled radish is a hot favourite among diners and a new experience to eat it with the beef noodles.

The dry-style beef noodle with thick vermicelli (with braised beef, tripes and tendons again) comes in a dark sauce with light flavour and topped with peanuts, which gives the dry-style dish a different taste experience. I really love beef noodles.

The new signature garlic-flavoured and spicy pickled pepper beef noodle (招牌泡椒蒜香带辣) is a very flavourful noodle dish with fried-garlic aroma and spiciness of pickled pepper and red chilli added to the already wonderful beefy broth. It is spicy but within acceptable limit — not overly spicy that can numb the tongue or make the lips swollen. It is another delicious and flavourful dish to crave for.

For lesser spiciness, the Spicy Braised Meat Noodle (泡椒牛肉粉) with slight numbing effect and spicy flavour of pickled pepper is the dish to go for. Try both and decide which beef noodle suits your palate best.

Other than adding-on small portions of beef ingredients to the noodle dishes, the braised meat, fresh beef, tripes, tendons, beef balls, etc, can be ordered in soups with greater portions. A bowl of tendons soup (牛筋汤) is a great add-on for its low-fat and high-collagen value.

The great flavours of Niu Mo Wang's beef noodles are unique to the restaurant only and I will always be back to satisfy my cravings for beefy dishes.
