118 Wei Restaurant (118海鲜餐馆) is a seafood restaurant located along Jalan Permas 10/B, facing a carpark. The restaurant serves a number of seafood dishes and many other cooked dishes, including the Johor-specialty dish san lou mee hoon (三楼米粉) — translated as "3rd-storey rice vermicelli".

118 Restaurant's signature dishes are listed at the top of their new menu — san lou mee hoon is also their signature dish. Other than seafood and poultry meat dishes, there are more on the back of the menu. Note that pre-ordering is required for crabs.

The large-size San Lou Mee Hoon (三楼米粉), so-named since it was invented and served by a Johorian chef on the 3rd storey of a building before it became a Johor-popular specialty dish. The mee hoon was fried with egg, slices of fish cake, greens, dark sauce, etc, and served in "pieces" of the rice vermicelli that are bonded together by the sauce. The dish has a strong wok-aroma, tasty but not too salty and is delicious — good to replace plain rice as staple too.

The small-size Curry Fish Head (咖喱鱼头) is served with fresh and tender fish (head) in an aromatic curry broth that is not thick and with mellow spiciness. There are tofu puffs, crispy beancurd skins, long beans, etc, in the curry dish.

The Ginger Duck (姜母鸭) is a Hokkien-specialty dish where duck meat is stewed with old ginger over long hours. The savoury dish has a mild ginger aroma as expected and the duck meat is very tender.

The Salted Egg Squid (咸蛋苏东) is definitely an aromatic and tasty dish since the squids are fried with salted egg. The squids are nicely-fried with slight chewiness and yet easy to break apart using the teeth.

The Salted Egg Eggplant (咸蛋茄子) has slices of eggplant that are pre-fried before stir-frying with salted egg. There are some crispiness when biting into the eggplant. The tasty salted egg has mild spiciness from the green chilli padi — don't mistaken them as green long beans.

We had a great meal at 118 Restaurant and like their dishes. We will be back for more seafood next time — and order some crabs beforehand.
