Chiang Mai Cafe: Nomad Coffee — A Cafe on Wheels

Nomad Coffee is a "cafe on wheels". Installed on the back of a blue three-wheeled mini electric truck, or a bigger version of Thailand's tuk tuk, the mobile cafe moves around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. It will usually carry out its coffee business at one location, near Chiang Mai Old City, unless it has to shift due to some circumstances.

The motto of Nomad Coffee is "I brew it my way" — me too. Nomad Coffee uses organic forest-grown coffee beans from their own coffee farm, and a few others, in Khunlao village (Chiang Rai) and Maekeemook village (in Doi Inthanon of Chiang Mai). The owner's name is Sawang Thongdee — I suppose, correct me if incorrect.

Nomad Coffee: Introduction

Nomad Coffee serves pour-over coffee as well as various espresso-based western coffees, chocolate, Thai milk tea (iced) and coffee with coconut milk. It is amazing how the owner can make espresso-based coffee without using heavy coffee-maker. A V60 brewer is used for pour-over coffee. There are moka pot and other coffee brewers too.

Nomad Coffee: V60 for pour-over coffee

A pour-over coffee is always the best way to taste the coffee bean of the day. The red honey processed and light-roasted beans from Nomad farm has a floral aroma with a fruity taste note.

An iced latte is a nice beverage, especially on hot days.

The mobile cafe is last located at the road junction between Tha Phae Road and Kampangdin Road, or opposite Wat Saen Fang outside the old city. As the shop behind the cafe will be starting business soon, Nomad Coffee will need to find another location to continue operation. Do check its Facebook for the latest location.
