Located in Taman Banang of Batu Pahat, Local Aroma Cafe (道香咖啡馆) is one of the several setups in the area that specialised in breads and buns. The relatively-new bakery-cafe opened its door in 2022.
Local Aroma Cafe's signature self-bake breads with different fillings are the best traditional taste for breakfast or afternoon coffee / tea. Other than long breads, they also bake wholemeal buns, bread for traditional toasts and croissants. Malaysian delicacies, such as laksa, nasi lemak, lontong, etc, and Mi Sedap (an instant noodle dish) are also available.
Apart from items listed on the menu, there are baked goodies, pastries, cakes, Nyonya kuehs, snacks, etc, at the counter.
On the tables, small packets of nasi lemak are placed for diners to eat as desired and pay later (self-service) — a common practice in small coffee shops throughout Malaysia.
First time at Local Aroma Cafe, it is natural to try their self-made bread and bun with traditional kopi or teh.
The Ham & Egg Bread is served with Local Aroma's signature long bread with generous amount of eggs and slices of chicken ham topped with a sweet sauce. The soft bread is lightly charred on the cut side and has a nice aroma. It is a tasty sandwich.
The Peanut Butter Wholemeal Bun is also lightly charred and spread with peanut and a slab of butter. The bun is also soft and with a nice texture.
Local Aroma Cafe's lontong and Mi Sedap (dry-style noodle) have good reviews. I will want to try them too.
